Ahead of the herd: St. Aloysius’ College, Carrigtwohill students enter ‘Irish Angus Beef’ competition


Agricultural Science was introduced to our school a few years ago, writes St. Aloysius’ College, Carrigtwohill student Rachel Anna O’Gorman. At the time, the majority of students in our school had no idea what this subject entailed or had no previous knowledge of it. Since then, Ag Science has become a popular subject in our school. This is the first year that it has been mandatory for all transition year students. Agricultural science and farming is widely seen as a male orientated profession and we here at St. Al’s certainly don’t agree. A group of us in transition year set out to change this and decided to enter a competition called ‘’The Certified Irish Angus Beef Competition’’.
