Ballymaloe House has been the scene of some incredible lifeboat fundraising dinners over the years. The most recent, a Moulin Rouge themed event held in February, was a stunning success and raised €12,561 for Ballycotton RNLI. The proceeds of that event were officially handed over to the RNLI this week when Fern Allen presented the large cheque with the amount raised to Ballycotton RNLI Coxswain Eolan Walsh and Mechanic Peter O’Shea.
It was a particularly proud moment for Helen Cuddigan, who has organised the event since 2014. In that time it has raised over €65,000 for the local RNLI, funding their work in saving lives at sea. As an acknowledgement of the work Helen has put into organising the fundraising dinner each year, RNLI Community Fudnraising Manger for Munster, Mary Creedon, presented her with an Excellence in Volunteering Award. The awards depicts an All-Weather lifeboat and conveys the thanks of the institution to its volunteers for their commitment and dedication to the charity.
