Carrigtwohill school ‘mops up’ award for water conservation


Cork students were honoured for their efforts in promoting water conservation and awareness at the An Taisce Green-Schools regional awards in Little Island this week. 18 schools from across Cork city and county received Green Flags under the Water theme. St. Aloysius’ College, Carrigtwohill won the Irish Water poster competition in the Secondary School category for the Southern region, courtesy of student Ewelina Podgórska.

The Cork schools are amongst 119 schools nationwide receiving the Green Flag for Water this year. The Water theme looks at developing awareness around water conservation and how to effectively manage this important resource in our schools and at home, and is sponsored by Irish Water.
