At the most recent meeting of the Southern Committee of Cork County Council, Cllr. Noel Collins raised the following motion: With the increase in domestic violence in local authority housing, council report on the procedures for tenants to follow when faced with this very serious problem.
In response, Maurice Manning, Director of Services, Cork County Council stated: Tusla is the agency responsible for the delivery and provision of services to support victims of domestic violence. In relation to short-term housing / homelessness, Cork County Council operates within the policy and procedural guidance for housing authorities issued by the Department in relation to assisting victims of domestic violence with emergency and long-term accommodation needs.
