Council adds extra €500,000 to roads funding in advance of imminent Ironman

Cork County Council has added an extra €500,000 to the 2019 East Cork Municipal District roads restoration maintenance and roads restoration improvement fund for works specific to June’s IRONMAN Cork route. The allocation applies to four particular sections of road, writes Christy Parker.

The money is included in a total budget of €3,919,810 in respect of roads totalling 44.2 kilometres.

The roads programme is based on grants allocated to the county council from the Dept. of Transport, Tourism and Sport (DTTAS) which is subsequently dispersed amongst the municipal districts.
