From singing for his supper to World Champion
Cloyne-bred canine keeps success in the family!
Castlemary Druid (pet name Guinness) bred by Olive Hallahan in Cloyne became a double world champion in Amsterdam last weekend having previously won in Milan in 2015. The 5 year old Hovawart has now won two World Titles, a Best of Breed at Crufts in 2016 and a European Junior title in Geneva in 2013.
Guinness is owned by Olive’s brother, Michael Murphy, in Sallins in Co. Kildare, making it a great family occasion. And the icing on the cake is that Guinness’ pups are now starting to follow in their father’s footsteps with Micona Sierra taking the World Junior title at the same show. The youngster is owned by Heli Mooney from Clane in County Kildare (pictured). Michael says this is payback for Kildare for giving Cork Tompkins and Fahy all those years ago! The Hovawart is an old German breed and is a working/guard dog.
Guinness beat off opposition from 15 different countries in his breed and beat the much talked about Finnish champion in the final line-up to take the top prize. The Finnish dog had won the Finnish Championships recently where there was an entry of 302 Hovawarts.
