After a few months fundraising in quarter four 2018 with a novel male Calendar titled Local Bulls 2019 – it was time to donate the proceeds of the fundraiser to our two selected charities: Pieta House and Mercy Hospital Foundation. A large crowd gathered in Rosie’s Bar Lower Aghada to witness the handover of the two Cheques each worth €8500 to Deirde Finn Fundraising Manager Mercy Hospital Foundation and Darren Coyle Garde fundraising manager Pieta House Both charities spoke of how the money raised will be used to help with ongoing support , research and care for cancer and mental health patients and their families. We really appreciate that Derek Power chief medical oncologist with Mercy Hospital attended and who spoke of the ongoing work in research to combat cancer in both the mercy and Cuh hospitals. Although it was a night to celebrate a magnificent fundraising achievement it was also a night were we learned that one of our participants in the Calendar our good friend and neighbor Kieran O’Connor is battling once again with cancer. It goes without saying that everyone in the community wishes Kieran our October Bull the speediest of recoveries. We would like to thank Martin and staff at Rosie’s for facilitating the presentation and Permanent TSB Midleton for providing the cheques. The local Bulls and their committee would like once again to thank everyone who helped in any way to making the whole fundraising process a huge success.
