There were 903 applications for one-bedroom housing across the east Cork municipal district in 2018, according to figures released at February’s municipal district meeting, writes Christy Parker.
The number is higher than any other application sector for the first time in any of the county’s eight municipal districts and reflects a hitherto unrecognised scale of homeless amongst single people. Four of the applications required disability adaption.
The figures also show that 896 people applied for 2-bed accommodation (18 disability), 774 sought 3-bed (10 disability) and 129 looked for 4-bed accommodation (1 disability).
