Ooh la-la! They can can-can! Moulin Rouge Gala Ball in aid of Ballycotton RNLI at Ballymaloe House

They had a ball….. the annual Ballycotton Lifeboat / RNLI Fundraising Gala Dinner at Ballymaloe House is traditionally held on the first Friday of February, as it has almost since Myrtle and Ivan took over the house in 1948. The event raises money for our local Ballycotton RNLI charity and the funds are used to purchase equipment and supply training to ensure our local crew and station have what they need to continue their incredible voluntary service saving lives at sea.

Having recently taken on a theme every year, for 2019, the event took guests to a MOULIN ROUGE Ball and complete with Ostrich feathers and tulips on the tables, sassy musical entertainment and French-themed Ballymaloe dessert. Colette from Cork soul and funk band, The Runaway Retros, and showgirl Lione from Celebs Entertainment set the glamour mark high but the guests excelled in their fashion efforts too. Anonymous fashion scouts were appointed and crowned Helen Duhig the evenings Best Dressed Woman (winning bubbles, chocolates and a voucher from Magnolia in Midleton), Paidrig Hubble was acknowledged as Best Dressed Man (winning a bottle of whiskey from IDL and an Ash Hoover from Chadwicks) and Becky and Nick Eagle, Best Dressed Couple (winning tickets to the Cork Opera House).
