Rostellan remembers the Clonmult Ambush

The Clonmult Ambush was commemorated at Thomas Kent Park in Rostellan on Sunday, February 24th.

A wreath was placed by Neilus Foley to remember those who had died in the Ambush.

Historian Charlie Hayes spoke about the events and the impact they had on the conflict. On 20th of February 1921 during an action in Clonmult much of the East Cork flying column was wiped out in a single day. Twelve men were shot dead and two were later executed. Several were shot after they had surrendered.

The event was well attended, with each person remembering the people of 98 years ago.
