Russell Rovers GAA management, players, supporters and sponsors celebrated in style at a lavish banquet at the Garryvoe Hotel last Friday night. The occasion was one the Rovers had been waiting for many years as it officially marked the celebration of their first ever East Cork Junior A Grade Hurling Championship crown. Anyone who attended the memorable final at Castlemartyr GAA Grounds against St. Ita’s will recall the day for many years to come, as a cherished milestone for the club.
In football, the club also had plenty to celebrate, having been crowned County B Grade Junior champions. And, to round off the season, the hurlers also put the Junior Hurling League title Cup on the mantelpiece. Thus, the top table was sparkling with silverware on Friday last as players and management took the spotlight in well-deserved recognition of the club’s greatest ever season. Congratulations to all concerned. Now that the celebrations are officially over it’s back to work for dual manager Michael Mannion, who masterminded both the hurling and the football success stories.
