The Irish Coastguard, Youghal Lifeboat and Ballycotton Lifeboat – along with Coastguard helicopter 117 – sprang into action this afternoon, to the aid of a vessel carrying three adults, approximately eight miles out from Youghal. “The ‘Ivana’ was taking on water rapidly and issued a ‘Mayday’ call,” Michael Lee, Officer in Charge, Irish Coastguard, told the Youghal News. A pump was attached to the boat, which was subsequently towed into Youghal Harbour and brought ashore at Nealon’s Quay.
No one was injured in the incident.
In an unrelated call-out, three children were rescued from Greenhole, having been cut off by the tide.
